IXYS has supplied chips to the hybrid transportation market for years, mainly focused on Hyundai locomotives. Electrified trains in Europe, South Africa and Dubai are gaining adoption; IXYS has chips in all of these systems.

In the hybrid car market, IXYS introduced technologies necessary in automotive electrical components. IXYS' automotive chips have been used since the early 1990s, with the introduction of General Motors' first electric car.
